I’ve read so many fics this year, so I’m posting my favorites that were posted/completed in 2018. Thanks so much to all the authors who create these stories and have served as a great escape for me on many occasions this year.

Louis Tomlinson is a thirty-year-old divorcee whose friends have signed him up for the Channel 4 show First Dates. Harry Styles is a twenty-eight-year-old lawyer who has never been in a long-term relationship. They are filmed going on their first date
Harry clears his throat. “Um. Lou, what is this?” He places the opened box on the table, but the note Louis had left remains in Harry’s hand. Before Louis can begin to explain, Harry talks again. “Do you mean it?” He sits next to Louis, his gaze unwavering.
This time, Harry’s voice sounds, dare Louis say, hopeful?
Louis takes the note, his handwriting spelling out the words ‘Will you be my pet?’ scribbled on it. He looks at Harry and his eyes are so full of adoration that it nearly takes Louis’ breath away. Louis runs his free hand through Harry’s curls and he immediately leans into the touch.
* Or- When Harry and Louis become roommates, Louis discovers a side of Harry that he’s more than willing to explore with him.
i know that some folks love telling creative people that “you should be doing it for fun because you love it not for the compliments” but creative people thrive on feedback whether it’s critical or just complimentary
so when i write fanfiction and don’t get any actual feedback i feel like i spent all that time and energy doing it for nothing because i’m not getting feedback from the people i wrote it for
doing something you’re proud of and then presenting it to the sound of utter silence is like the worst feeling on earth

Giving compliments and feedback literally costs nothing to you, but will make not just the creator’s day, but possibly their entire life. I guarantee you, that one nice comment you left will be remembered years later.

Louis stood still motionless as he felt her cold breath flow into his mouth and make it’s way down his throat and into his lungs following a sharp sensation that began to twist in the middle of his chest. He fell to the ground as his arms and legs began to burn, a burning feeling that started from the middle of his hands and feet, quickly coursing through him. He doubled over, no voice still and brought his limbs into him, curling up into the fetal position. The pain twisting and he gasped out nothing still but air falling from his lips.
He heard a sinister laugh and looked up, tears forming in his eyes. She looked down as she stood over him, her head tilted to the side.
“Cat got your tongue?” She smirked and stepped over him and walked away, her voice echoing off the walls of the alleyway as she laughs, an evil tone behind it.
Or: Louis was just a normal guy walking home one night when he encountered a woman with evil intentions, using her powers to turn him into a cat. A man with long curly hair and bright green eyes saves Louis and takes him home. Little does Louis know that Harry might be the key to getting him out of this cat body and back to his normal self.
